Protestant missionaries in the west came to Shandong in 1860 to face the frequent famine in modern Shandong. Under the guidance of Christian fraternity and universalism, Western Protestant missionaries actively devoted themselves to disaster relief in Shandong. In particular, many missionaries such as Timothy, Ni Weisi, Di Kao Man and many other missionaries worked together to raise funds for donations, relief to disaster relief and the release of Relief Relief Fund during the famine in 1889 in Shandong Province. A large number of victims, and put forward many proposals to prevent famine. Although missionaries have the purpose of disseminating the Gospel of God and attracting victims to join the church, there are still some limitations in helping them. However, their activities are still worthwhile to save the victims of the brink of death and to promote the modernization and transformation of China’s disaster relief mechanism and China’s early modernization Affirmative.
