解放后,拉萨八廓街的保护取得了巨大的成就。中规院从1989年开始,连续跟踪街区的发展变化,到目前为止完成了三版规划:1992年完成的《拉萨市八廓街详细规划》、2004年完成的《拉萨八角街地区保护规划》与2013年完成的《拉萨八廓街历史文化街区保护规划》。每版规划都是结合街区现状及保护理论方法的发展,对上一版的继承与补充。2012年开始的《拉萨八廓街历史文化街区保护 After liberation, the protection of Barkhor Street in Lhasa has made great achievements.
