This paper presents the concept of a plant’s “radiation” configuration so that all disintegration, grinding and beneficiation sections are well-centralized in a central site, and these individual sections are interconnected by means of radiation-equipped transport belts and mines . In contrast to the more conventional factory straight-line systems, crushing, grinding and the usual sorting operations are arranged one after the other in separate plants in a straight line configuration. “Radiation” configuration system to a large extent simplify and improve the control and management, can maintain the whole plant continuous production operations, continuous shutdown of individual systems for necessary maintenance, does not prevent the entire factory production. This paper illustrates the practical examples of past and present diamond processing plants in South Africa, showing that the use of such a system can reduce the labor force at the factory. It is totally unreasonable to think earlier that such a configuration would limit the expansion of the factory.
