手术根治性切除是食管癌最主要的治疗手段，食管中上段癌的手术以食管次全切除，食管、胃颈部吻合重建术为首选。多年来，虽然手工吻合方法已有许多改进，但操作烦琐，耗时较长，并发症较多，术后吻合口漏发生率可达8．2％，吻合口狭窄发生率可达10．9％。
