The term “appropriate technology” became popular in the 1970s. It has become an indispensable technology philosophy for developing countries to achieve industrialization. In recent years, in order to accelerate industrialization, developing countries have introduced large amounts of capital and technology from advanced industrial countries, and some have established modern equipment such as atomic power stations and electronic computer centers. However, quite a few facts have proven that developing countries do not adapt to the local economic conditions by copying many advanced technologies of advanced industrial countries. For example, automation technology in industrial advanced countries will not create opportunities for expanding employment in developing countries with a large population and labor force; some advanced cutting-edge technologies will be used in areas lacking skilled personnel and skilled workers.
