In 1921, more than a hundred students studying after work-study program in France were seized by the French government for their repatriation to Lyon University. From Shanghai to Beijing and Guangzhou, they even called on the provinces to call for assistance. They asked the North and South governments, all provincial authorities and all sectors of the community to help them maintain their present life, solve the problem of continuing their studies, return the luggage, and ask the government to forcibly return the grounds. The government authorities and all sectors of society tried their best to give sympathy and relief to those students who wish to study in Beijing and Shanghai and paid grants to those who wish to go home. This basically fulfilled the bailout requirements put forward by the students.
