“泠”与“冷”两字可能由于字形相似,故往往有人认为彼此是一码事。因此,时下有些报纸上的文章常常把“西泠”写为“西冷”。例如,《天津老年时报》2001年9月15日第4版,在题为《开国大印是何人刻制?》一文中写道:“……即向杭州西冷印社创始人……”;又如,江苏《扬子晚报》1999年12月15日 B19版,在题为《金陵八旬翁家藏三件宝》一文中写道:“……石老早年从学西冷印社社长……”。等等,不再一一赘举。其实,上述二例中的“西冷”系“西泠”之误,
