茅盾原名沈德鸿,又名沈雁冰。一八九六年生于浙江省桐乡县乌镇,是我国现代文学史上一位有巨大成就的革命作家。中学毕业后进北京大学预科,毕业后到商务印书馆编译所工作。一九一七年开始在商务印书馆出版的《学生杂志》上发表翻译和介绍外国文学方面的文章,一九二○年参加《小说月报》的革新工作。一九二一年和郑振铎、叶圣陶等发起组织“文学研究会”,并负责主编《小说月报》。在《小说月报》上发表了许多文学论文,并翻译了不少外国进步作品。他早期的文学主张是“为人生”。
Mao Dun formerly known as Shen Dehong, aka Shen Yan ice. Born in Wuzhen, Tongxiang County, Zhejiang Province in 1896, he is a revolutionary writer with a great accomplishment in the history of modern Chinese literature. After graduating from high school into Peking University Foundation, after graduation to the Commercial Press compilation work. In 1917, he started to publish articles on foreign literature in the “Student Magazine” published by the Commercial Press. In 1920, he participated in the reform of the “Novel Monthly”. In 1921 and Zheng Zhenduo, Ye Shengtao and other organizations, “Literature Research Association”, and is responsible for the editor of “Novel Monthly.” Published many literary essays in the “Fiction Monthly” and translated many foreign progressive works. His early literary proposition was “for life.”
