Two annealing ways, single-step annealing (SSA) and two-step annealing (TSA), were carried out to investigate the formation of the cube texture during recrystallization in the highly rolled Ni-5at%W alloy by means of EBSD and XRD techniques. It was found that both the microstructure and cube texture of the highly rolled substrates depended strongly on the annealing ways. The TSA method yields sharper cube texture and higher proportion of low-angle grain boundaries compared with SSA method. In addition, the TSA method suppresses the formation of annealing twins during recrystallization and improves the degree of the in-plane alignment of the cube grains in the alloy slightly.
