T lymphocyte subsets and lymphocytes in 32 cases of human dental pulp were studied quantitatively by using monoclonal antibodies against human T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes by using immunohistochemistry. The quantity and clinical course of The results showed that there were very few T lymphocytes and no B lymphocytes in normal dental pulp. The numbers of T, B lymphocytes and the Th / Ts ratio increased with the development of endodontic disease. Chronic pulpitis Acute episodes of T lymphocytes was significantly reduced. It is suggested that B lymphocyte-mediated humoral immunity does not participate in the local early immune response of dental pulp. The non-paralyzed endodontic state and immune regulation are positively correlated with clinical course. In the acute episode of chronic pulpitis, local cellular immunity is inhibited.
