化学泵浦使得光激射器很轻便,而且有可能连续工作。化学泵浦的光激射器可能会比一般光激射器提供更高的能量-重量比。化学泵浦不用电力供电设备,电容箱和脉冲触发线路。例如,40磅的化学泵浦光激射器能够等于甚或超过现今北美航空公司科学家们所作之1000磅光激射器的能量输出。
