Objective To explore the antagonistic relationship between sympathetic and parasympathetic functions during sleep. Methods Ten healthy young college students (7 males, 3 females, aged 19-23 years) were monitored by continuous electrocardiogram with Holter, L and electrocardiograph. The time series of the RR interval was taken as 10 minutes Units were separated and the trend of SNS and PNS antagonistic activity was analyzed using Coarse Graining Spectral Analysis (CGSA). Results After entering sleep stage, the activity of SNS decreased obviously, while the activity of PNS increased obviously, alternating after awakening. The PNS and SNS values of each unit are inversely proportional to each other. Conclusion The relationship between sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve function during sleep is antagonistic.
