博客近年来的发展态势可以用“忽如一夜春风来,干树万树梨花开”来形容,其中传媒人开设的博客也不胜枚举。显然,传媒人不可以像一般博客那样随心所欲,他们必须顾及传媒的利益。实际上,博客的出现已使想通过博客表达自己的传媒人陷入窘境。因为不管他们多么小心地要把他们的私人活动同他们与传媒的职业关系区分开来,局外人还是可能把它们看作是紧密相连的。传媒人与传媒之间这种难以割断的联系,要求他们在博客上发表言论、传播信息应保持理性和克制,有所为有所不为。在这方面,西方一些传媒机构早已先行一步。它们对自己的职员开设博客限制可分为直接和间接两种形式:
