For the past 25 years, Wolfgang Laib has explored the truly mystical realms that get us through sensory perception by mixing existing things we already know. Using natural and animal products such as pollen, milk, rice and beeswax to reflect the cycle of life and death, give and take, and express eternity through these brief presentations. Laib’s work combines the existentialist and Platonic utopian aspirations and serves as an alternative to primitive rituals. The way he uses is simple, but equally complex. For Laib, simple work can have more levels, he said: “Art is a challenge to everything.” "As we gaze at Laib’s work, we get a Zen-like epiphany.
