在研究玉米小斑菌生理小种中,无论在活体上或活体外,同一个菌株的后代经常会出现存活力、生长速度、产孢力、致病力以及分生孢子和菌落形态上的显著差异。特别是产孢力,有的在继代培养几代以后就急剧下降,甚至完全丧失。此外,有的后代对寄主的致病力变化也很大,从而给研究生理小种和抗病育种带来许多困难。为探索小斑菌的变异规律,我们对51号菌株的单孢系和单斑系分别进行了观察研究,结果如下:
