The term “megalopolis” appeared in the general journal before the 1920s, meaning “megalopolis.” The twentieth century when the term appeared in the academic works, mainly by Geddes and Mumford used to indicate a too huge city destined to perish, and Gottman used it to define a huge, closely linked An urban area, especially the metropolitan metropolitan area on the northeastern coast of the United States. Gottman’s definition dominates the geography dictionary, but it is ignored by geography outside the discipline. The Oxford English Dictionary strongly advocated the endorsement of Gottman (ie, geographer), while editors of geography dictionaries strongly advocated the revision of their definition.
