The University of Sidi Bielefeld uses CD-ROMs to start an international project of importance to the library. The school library will work with Hamburg Systems and Philips Industrial to develop an application library for optical storage literature search technology. They transcribe the complex collection of books onto a compact disc, making it a database that can be accessed through the appropriate transfer mechanism connected to a personal computer.
