于光祖等三位同学是1962年度大专毕业生,是被派到水利基层单位实习的400名同学中的一部分。从来信中看出:由于他们工作较出色,被所在单位评为先进工作者,得到了党和群众给予的荣誉。他们获得这种荣誉的原因何在呢?正如他们来信中所反映的,是由于他们抱着“分配什么干什么,干什么学什么”和“作长期打算,踏踏实实地工作”的态度。而这种端正的工作态度,则是基于“党所分配的工作,就是人民最需要的工作,就一定要干好”的正确认识。只有具备了这种正确的认识,理解到自己肩负的责任,热爱自己的工作,才能踏踏实实、勤勤恳恳地工作,才能有一分热发一分光,为水利事业、为社会主义建设事业作出更多的贡献。
