A multi zone (multi dimensional) model is used to model the in cylinder radiative heat transfer of a direct injection diesel engine. The space and the surface of the ω combustion chamber are approximated by simple geometric shapes and discretized. The model takes into consideration the complexity of the structure of the combustion chamber and the non uniform distribution of the radiation medium, and uses the Monte Carlo method to simulate the in cylinder radiative heat transfer.
