园林——乃庭园的古名。我国有造林园的悠久历史,过去所建皇家和私家园林,虽是为少数统治阶级服务。但它是我国劳动人民劳动的结晶。有它独特的风格和特点:“虽由人作,宛自天开”,或以自然风光取胜,开阔壮丽的天然水面,高大浑厚的山岳、瀑布;或是密茂的松林,秋果、红叶;或经人为的艺术加工——造园——挖湖造山,园内大量建筑亭台楼阁,很讲究地种植花草树木,富丽堂皇,玲珑精巧……而今天的园林,园的主人变了,虽应学习和借鉴这些艺术成果,而更重要的园林是社会主义性质的,是为广大劳动人民服务的,也不应再居现于狭窄的内容,应该有广泛的新的内容。
