Many Mesozoic geologists have studied Mesozoic coal-bearing strata in this area since 1933. In the past three years or so, we have carried out large-scale geological surveys in the coal mines of Sandu and systematically measured the stratigraphic profiles of the Charcoal, Yangmei, Tangxian, Maoxianling and Shigu formations. Through a comprehensive analysis of borehole data and borehole data over the years, a number of new practical data were obtained: (1) The lower section of the Carboniferous Formation was discovered and established, with thicknesses of up to 80 meters in thickness throughout the region, (2) The marine bivalve fossils harvested in the upper part of the Tangtao Formation are of great significance for the division of the Tangta Formation and the discussion of the direction and extent of the early Jurassic transgression. (3) For the first time, the pearl mussel fossil was found in the Shek Kwu group, which is of some significance to the era of the Shi Kwu set for resolving the long-term controversy. This paper mainly discusses the forming conditions of Mesozoic coal-bearing strata in this area and the era of Tangtao Formation and Shigu Formation, and also makes some discussions on the existence of Sanduo Movement.
