刘克仁从学生时代起就热爱书法艺术。几十年来一直致力于书法创作,书作屡见于全国各大报刊,先后出版多部书法集。他坦承:“书法是贯穿我一生的挚爱。”退休后,他笔耕不辍,2011年在解放军文艺出版社出版了书法集《翰墨诗魂》,2013年在华艺出版社出版了书法集《民族诗魂》。其书作从唐楷入手,融合魏碑之气,笔力雄浑有力,又洒脱不羁。他的传略被收入多部辞书,有书法作品被香港、台湾多家机构收藏。2014年,他在河北石家庄举办了个人书展,受到各界广泛好评。2015年,被文化部中国书画院聘为特聘顾问。
