法国耶稣会士戴遂良的《近世中国民间故事集》依据中国历代文献编译而成,汇集中国民间奇异故事,展现中国百姓的生活知识和鬼神观念,让西方人看到多元文化影响下的中国民间信仰现状。该著是西方学者编纂的第一本中国民间故事集,采取主题与关键字双重索引,可视为民间故事母题索引的先声,在中国民间文学学术史上具有重要的意义。
