编钟是中国古代乐器之首,也是权势与地位的象征,因而,编钟的铸做与发展历来受到重视、它荟萃着中国古代冶铸技术,声学、乐律学和工艺美术的精华,代表着中国古代科学技术的高超水平。为发掘和继承古代科学文化遗产,揭示中国古编钟的制作工艺,结构特性和发音规律,促进国内外的科技文化交流,由哈尔滨科技大学、中国自然科学史研究所和河南省文物研究所合作,对浙川编钟进行了复制研究工作,采用新的工艺方法成功的复制出浙川编钟的复制品,在钟形、及几何尺寸、合金成分,金相组织、基频、振动模式以及音色等均与原钟一致,经有关专家鉴定,认为:复制钟较好的反映了原编钟的特征和面貌。复制钟于82年1月出国展出。
