季羡林,著名古文字学家、历史学家、作家。曾任中国科学院哲学社会科学部委员、北京大学副校长、中国社科院南亚研究所所长。季羡林自1946年从德国回国,受聘北京大学,创建东方语文系,开拓中国东方学学术园地。在佛典语言、中印文化关系史、佛教史、印度史、印度文学和比较文学等领域均有造诣,成为享誉海内外的东方学大师。
Ji Xianlin, a famous ancient philologist, historian and writer. Former Chinese Academy of Sciences Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences, vice president of Peking University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Institute of South Asia. Ji Xianlin returned from Germany in 1946, hired Peking University, to create Oriental Languages Department, to open up the academic field of Chinese Oriental Studies. In the Buddhist language, the history of Sino-Indian relations in culture, history of Buddhism, history of India, Indian literature and comparative literature and other fields are accomplished, become renowned Oriental masters at home and abroad.
