The Dongs in Hubei Province are an ethnic group scattered in the distribution area of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hubei far away from the Dong ethnic center. More than 200 years ago, they came here from Hunan and Guizhou Dong settlements. During their contacts with local Tujia, Miao and Hans, they learned from each other and lived together in harmony. While maintaining their national identity, they took the initiative to adapt to the local culture. On the one hand, this kind of adaptability choice makes the ethnic groups survive and develop well in different places. On the other hand, while the culture changes, the national historical memory and national identity are still preserved.
