The Tibetan Plateau is not only majestic, it also has a profound impact on the global climate and environment, and has rich mineral and biological resources. However, people’s understanding of its history is very limited. Human studies on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau began in the second half of the 19th century and covered many aspects such as geology, climate, hydrology, glaciers, animals and plants. Since the 1950s, China has organized numerous large-scale comprehensive scientific expeditions and brought back rich and complete paleontological fossils. In these fossils, people discovered the marine life such as shells, ammonites, fish and so on. Is it that the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was once home to marine life? Next year, you can go to the Nanjing Museum of paleontology for answers.
