Describe a ΔE detector-lateral field gas ionization chamber that can be used on the Lanzhou radioactive beam line (RIBLL). Its performance was tested, including its flatness curve, detection efficiency and energy resolution. The test results show that the ionization chamber has a longer working area and a smaller slope at different pressures of Ar (80%) + CO2 (20%). The detection efficiency relative to Si was 99.31%. At an air pressure of 118 mbar, the alpha particle with an energy loss of 4.94 MeV has an energy resolution of 3.25%. And the beam application was performed in an RIBLL bombardment Ta target with 50 MeV / u 58Ni.
