夏目漱石、芥川龙之介及横光利一是日本近代文学乃至近现代文学的杰出代表。三人在进行自己的文学活动的同时,都对日本文学的发展起到了巨大的作用。漱石被誉为超越文坛流派的“圈外的孤峰”和近代文学的真正确立者,芥川则被称为新思潮派的旗手,横光利一被称为新感觉派的旗手。三人在各自的时代,用各自独特的目光,犀利地去看待社会;用敏锐的头脑去分析文学,而不被别人所牵制。三人各在自己的时代,吸收了前一时代和当时时代的其他流派的精髓,形成了各自独特的文学观,并进行了文学活动。但是由于当时时代的黑暗,在对社会的批判上漱石采取了直接批判,芥川则是间接的,利一只是对社会现实进行了部分批判。
Natsume Soseki, Akutagawa Ryunosuke and Yoshihiro Kobayashi are outstanding representatives of Japanese modern literature and even modern literature. However, due to the darkness of the time, Sankoh took direct criticism of society and Akutagawa was indirect. Lee used only partial criticism of social reality.
