中国工程院于2013年12月19日正式公布2013年院士增选结果,北京科技大学土木与环境工程学院蔡美峰教授当选为能源与矿业工程学部院士。当天下午,笔者有幸采访了蔡教授,短暂的采访过程中,蔡教授深厚的学术功底、富有逻辑的语言表达让人深深折服,他对国家对党对学校对导师的深深情感也令人感动。当选为院士,蔡美峰教授的激动之情溢于言表,他更多地将自己的这份荣誉归功于祖国、党、人民与学校的培养。蔡美峰动情地说:“如果不是新中国成立,不是祖国、党的培养,作为一个农村的孩子,我怎么会有机会进入到大学学习?怎么会有机会出国深造?自1990年我从澳洲留学归国,如今回国20余年,我从未后悔。国家给予我出国留学攻读博士的机会,这在当时(1985年)是投入很大的,学成归来我就一定要用所学的知识为国家服务,这个初衷一直从未变过。”北京科技大学校长张欣欣教授在《致2014年新年贺词》中特别提到:“蔡美峰教授光荣当选为中国工程院院士,衷心祝愿蔡老师科学之树常青,为国家、社会和学校做出更大贡献。”
