“五四”时期,先进的知识分子积极倡导学习西方,译介外国文学是重要途径之一。这一时期翻译活动异常丰富,翻译思想异常活跃,在中国翻译史上具有里程碑意义。“五四”时期外国文学翻译多以团体的方式进行,翻译队伍整体素质较高,呈现出多元化倾向,且转译盛行,理论意识明显增强。“五四”时期的译者大多兼具思想家、革命家和翻译家等多重身份,这使得翻译活动承担起多层面的重任。
During the May 4th Movement, advanced intellectuals actively advocated studying the West and translating foreign literature was one of the important ways. The translation activities during this period were exceptionally rich and the translation thought was extremely active, marking a milestone in the history of Chinese translation. During the period of the May 4th Movement, most foreign literary translations were carried out in a group manner. The overall quality of the translation team was high, showing a diversified tendency, and the translation was prevailing with a marked increase in theoretical awareness. During the May 4th Movement, most of the translators shared the multiple identities of thinkers, revolutionaries and translators, which enabled translation activities to take on multidimensional tasks.
