记者:据报道,我国Internet用户数发展已超过100万,发展势头很猛。请问,CNNIC的主要功能有哪些?为我国Internet发展做了哪些工作? 毛伟:CNNIC是去年6月3日成立的,由原国务院信息办委托中科院计算机网络信息中心组织和运行的。最近,国务院信息办撤销了,CNNIC改由信息产业部领导。 CNNIC是一个非赢利性的管理和服务性机构。职能主要有:为中国用户提供互联网络地址、域名、网络资源目录管理和有关的信息服务,代表我国网络信息中心与国外网络信息中心开展业务联系。 互联网发展到一定阶段,各个国家都要成立这样的机构。有人说,Internet是一个开放式的、无政府的、自由发展的网

The main functions are: to provide Chinese users with Internet address, domain name, network resource directory management and related information services, on behalf of China’s Network Information Center and foreign network information center business contacts.
