As early as 2005, Daimler successfully applied the advanced energy-saving technology, BlueTec, to commercial vehicles. Since then, 160,000 commercial vehicles with BlueTec have been operating in the streets of Europe, including heavy-duty Mercedes-Benz trucks. Over 90% of these vehicles have reached Euro V emission standards. The standard time is far earlier than the expected emission standard implementation time autumn 2009. To date, these BlueTec vehicles have saved nearly 400 million liters of diesel fuel for their owners; reducing nearly 100 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions to the environment. A good mileage of one billion kilometers fully demonstrates the superior performance of the vehicle.
