随着新长征步伐的前进,新闻工作者的红与专问题,越来越具有迫切的意义了。这个问题,长期纠缠不清。在“文化大革命”中,又是非颠倒,“红”“白”混淆。笔者虽然已经从新闻队伍里转业出去,但是每一念及30年来的甘苦滋味,深有所感。什么是“红”?过去有种种说法。前年,邓小平同志在科学大会上解释,“红”就是爱社会主义祖国,自觉自愿为社会主义服务。这是对所有知识分子的共同要求。今年,党中央公布了《关于党内政治生活的若干准则》,其中规定:“‘红’就是具有坚定正确的政治方向,坚持四项基本原则”。这是对共产党员的要求。对于新闻队伍有没有具体要求或者特殊要求呢?大概还是有的。新闻工作者的本职工作是宣传,因此,“具有坚定正确的政治方向,坚持四项基本原则”,不仅要表现在个人的日常生活里,特别要贯彻到工作中去,表现在报纸的新闻和评论中。而多年来的经验证明,要做到这一点却不是很容易的。
