This study describes the motion analysis and design of a non-circular gear-driven CVG with phase shift and additive differential. The emphasis is placed on the relationship between the different design parameters and the effect of reducing the enclosed power. The research trade-off shows the enclosed power generated in most non-circular gears and devices that must be used. An example 200 HP (149 kW) non-circular gear stepless speed variator with a speed ratio in the range of 1 to 4 is used to illustrate the characteristics of the study, requiring estimation of the 4 components of the addition differential and its maximum instantaneous moment of failure Closed power is about 6 times the output power.
