Bayer has signed an agreement to buy Aventis CropSciences, marking the completion of complex negotiations with Aventis and Schering. The deal amounts to 7.25 billion euros (6.62 billion U.S. dollars), including 1.9 billion euros in debt, the Bayer Group said is “the biggest purchase and milestone in Bayer history.” It is estimated that the sale will not be completed in the first quarter of 2002 at the latest.
