富勒(RBFuler,1895-1983)不仅仅是一位建筑师,而且是极富创见的未来学家、工业设计师、数学家、作家、教育家、哲学家。他发明的张力杆件穹窿(GeodesicDome)被称作是迄今人类最强、最轻、最高效的围合空间手段。他的全部创作都源于“设计科学”思想,目标是将人类的发展需求与全球的资源、发展中的科技水平结合在一起,用最高效的手段解决最多的问题。“设计科学”又称Morphology,即关于本质的形式的科学,它与几何学、力学、运动学和材料学等相关,体现了科学的理性。当代设计科学在建筑上的发展包括自成形结构、张力结构、可变形结构、多面体建筑等方面。21世纪中国要实现建筑的“可持续发展”的目标,应该重视“设计科学”。
Fuller (1895-1983) is not just an architect, but also a creative futuristic, industrial designer, mathematician, writer, educator, and philosopher. He invented the Geodesic Dome as the strongest, lightest and most efficient means of enclosing space to date. All his creation stems from the idea of “designing science”. The goal is to combine the development needs of mankind with the global resources and the technological level in development so as to solve the most problems with the most efficient means. “Design science”, also known as Morphology, that is about the nature of the form of science, which is related to geometry, mechanics, kinematics and materials science, embodies the scientific rationality. Contemporary design science in the development of architecture, including self-forming structure, tension structure, deformable structure, polyhedron building and so on. In the 21st century, to realize the goal of “sustainable development” of architecture, we should attach importance to “design science”.
