The reference temperature t0 is a parameter characterizing the cold embrittlement behavior of ferritic steel, which can be obtained by testing the smaller size fracture toughness specimen. Using t0 as the basis for safety assessment of nuclear power station pressure vessel, the RTNDT index of ductile-brittle transition temperature obtained from impact test is more realistic and reliable. At present, the experimental testing method of t0 has formed a test standard such as ASTME1921-2010 internationally.
