曾经轰动世界的“南海一号”南宋古沉船,于1987年8月在广东省阳江市海陵岛外的南海海域被意外发现,该船长约30米,宽10多米。船身高3米,仅在小范围的试掘就采集了4000多件珍贵文物。包括宋、元时期产自福建德化,江西景德镇,浙江龙泉等地的刻花碗、青白釉葫芦瓶、酱釉扃身瓶等瓷器及镀仓腰带、锡壶、饰品等,多数是十分罕见甚至绝无仅有的文物珍品。经过打捞与考古专家们整整20年时间的准备,2007年,这艘埋没在海底35米深,具有800年岁月的沉船才经打捞箱套装后,整体调离海底,包含覆盖在船舱中的文物与淤泥一起封存在为其专门制作的“水品宫”内,等待深度挖掘。这里还要提及的是,在这20年的时间里,是阳江公安边防
