始建于明代弘治、正德年间的常熟彩衣堂,现为全国重点文物单位。彩衣堂位于常熟市翁家巷门,为翁氏主体建筑。明代弘治、正德年间,属邑人桑氏,因子孙整科,堂名“森桂”,易“丛桂”。隆庆年间为邵武知府、古琴家严澂宅第。清道光十三年(1833),大学士翁心存从仲姓处购得,更名为“彩衣堂”,彩衣堂取名源于二十四孝中的老莱子娱亲的典故。寓意孝顺父母的意思。其子翁同龢曾在此度过
