4-Quinolone antibiotics are of great value in the treatment of many soft-tissue infections, including bacterial prostatitis. In clinical studies, a simple and straightforward method for the determination of fiuidinic acid in serum and prostate by HPLC was established. This method separates oxypicidin from its major metabolite oxyfurfural and is suitable for the analysis of other 4-quinolones. The stationary phase used in this experiment was Microbonda-pak C18 (Waters Z-Module) with a mobile phase of 0.1 M citric acid containing 15-25% methanol (the actual
