The luminescence of Eu2+ in low- and high-temperature modified BaB8O13 are reported. The valance change from Eu3+ to Eu2+ is observed when the samples are prepared in air. Eu2+ shows f-d transition at room temperature under UV excitation. The temperature dependency of the emission of Eu2+ in the hosts is studied. Multiple crystallographic sites for Eu2+ in the lattice are observed.
