随着社会的进步,经济的快速发展,人们的物质生活水平不断提高,人们在满足了最基本的生理和安全需求以后,正在开始向着更高层次的精神需求迈进,观众开始寻找一个有内涵,能够沉淀心灵,带给人思考,同时兼具审美艺术与生活趣味的空间,所以,以关注现实,传承着中国历代优秀文化的纪录片频道应运而生。我国的纪录片频道的主体是制作和播放纪录片,其内容包括:人文、科教、历史、地理等内容,栏目制作主要以纪实性栏目为主体,是供人们欣赏的艺术品。但是随着社会的快速进步与发展,人们对于观看影视节目类型有了更高的需求,以不同挡的电影电视、花团锦簇的综艺娱乐和滚动播出的新闻为三大支柱的竞争格局应运而生,而内容相对严肃单调、文化积累深厚的纪录片却受到人们的冷落,纪录片的制作和播出频率越来越少,前景很令人堪忧。
