云南硅藻土资源丰富,居全国之首,已知矿点达20多个,并有寻甸、腾冲、临沧等大型矿区。寻甸先锋矿的探明储量占全国的55%。为加速省硅藻土资源的开发,省建材局、省科委、省乡镇企业局和西南能源开发总公司昆明分公司联合召开了“云南省硅藻土开发工作座谈会”。会上传达了“首届全国硅藻土技术研讨会”的精神,交流了云南近年来有关硅藻土开发的地质、科研、生产、应用等方面的情况,介绍了国内外科技、生产和市场信息,探讨了云南硅藻土工业的发展方向,提出了成立全省硅藻土开发协调组织的建议。
