1966年“文化大革命”爆发时,大将许光达正担任着中国人民解放军装甲兵司令员兼坦克学校校长和装甲兵学院院长、国防部副部长等职务。这场运动开始后,林彪、江青、康生一伙下决心要打倒贺龙元帅。许光达曾在湘鄂西、晋西北随同贺龙一起开辟革命根据地,是贺龙的老部下,两人关系极好。随着贺龙被林彪一伙打倒,许光达也被扣上了“篡军反党”的罪名。
At the outbreak of the “Cultural Revolution” in 1966, General Xu Guangda was in charge of the armored forces commander of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), headmaster of the Tank School and dean of the Armored Corps, and deputy defense minister. After this campaign started, Lin Biao, Jiang Qing and Kang Sheng were determined to overthrow Marshal He Long. Xu Guangda once worked in Hunan, Hubei and western Hubei and northwestern Shanxi along with He Long to open up a revolutionary base. It was an old subordinate to He Long, and the relationship between the two was excellent. As He Long was defeated by Lin Biao and his gang, Xu Guangda was also charged with the crime of “usurping the army and opposing the Party.”
