从艺术史看,中国的山水画是世界上独一无二的绘画品种,山水画之美,主要体现在人对自然的主观感受上。中国绘画滥觞于远古,始成于晋、隋,隆盛于唐,成熟于宋。即便如此,宋代的山水画也多以写实为主。自元以降,以元四家为代表的山水画家注重笔墨,崇尚意趣,对传统笔墨的表现形式做了积极探索,以他们各自的人文意识和简练超脱的艺术手法,用写意的形式表现出质朴稚拙的意境,融进了高妙脱俗的笔意和气韵,体现了元代山水画的最高成就。对后世的山水画发展影响巨大,把中国山水画推到了一个崭新的高度。
