It is well-known that metal poisons, like essential trace elements, cause excessive biochemical and clinical damage when over-accumulated in the liver and other tissues. Complexing agent is mainly used for the treatment of certain metal poisoning, its complexation with no selectivity. For example, Ca-Na_2EDTA used to drive lead, but also increase the zinc, copper and iron emissions. Therefore, prolonged use of complexing agents may increase the excretion of essential elements, leading to cellular metabolic disorders and affecting DNA, RNA and protein synthesis. Moffitt et al. Reported that the deficiencies of necessary elements such as Cu, Mg, and Zn could lead to a significant decrease of hepatic drug metabolism in rats. This may be the complexing agent by altering the lipid peroxidation of the microsomal membranes
