This article examines the challenges of transitioning to a sustainable, information-driven society. From the long-term perspective of world development, this means that societies that are economically, culturally and environmentally sound can be achieved. It is clear that this transition, which extends the existing resource-intensive lifestyles of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development to the development model of all inhabitants as a whole, will threaten the global ecological stability and local culture and eventually threaten social coordination in Europe. The current model of economic globalization is leading to more and more degeneration, the identification of short-term directions and faster and faster changes, which make it more and more difficult to achieve sustainable development. However, European experience can make a valuable contribution to the developing information society for the sustainable development of globalization and to policy-making bodies worldwide.
