光纤的损耗是波长的函数。光信号在光纤中传输的实际损耗因而也与传输光的中心波长及光谱线宽有关。在光纤损耗测量中,光的中心波长的影响是很直观的,但光谱线宽的影响却是较为复杂的。为了保证一定的测量精度,必须定量地估算光谱线宽对测量结果的影响,从而规定适当的线宽或对测量结果作必要的修正。本文将对典型的国产多模光纤,在几种测试条件下,估算光谱线宽对0.85μm及1.3μm二个波长上损耗测量的影响,并与实验结果作比较,还将讨论对实际应用的意义。
Fiber loss is a function of wavelength. The actual loss of optical signals transmitted in the optical fiber is therefore also related to the central wavelength of the transmitted light and to the spectral linewidth. In fiber loss measurement, the influence of the central wavelength of light is very intuitive, but the effect of spectral line width is more complicated. In order to ensure a certain degree of measurement accuracy, the effect of the spectral linewidth on the measurement results must be quantitatively assessed, thus setting the appropriate linewidth or making any necessary corrections to the measurement results. In this paper, we will estimate the influence of spectral linewidth on the loss measurement at two wavelengths of 0.85μm and 1.3μm under several test conditions in a typical domestic multimode optical fiber. Compared with the experimental results, we will also discuss the practical application of significance.
