Nitrates are widely used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, and have the function of inhibiting platelet function, the mechanism of which is unknown. Therefore, there is a great interest in the report that nitroglycerin (NTG) can stimulate the production of prostacyclin (PGI_2) by endothelial cells cultured in vitro.
